Leptokarya is the second most populated settlement of the Municipality of Dion - Olympus. It is a wonderful tourist seaside destination with a market, dining, entertainment and organized beaches. Its sandy beach exceeds 5 km in length, while the distance one needs to travel from our accommodation to the sea is limited to just a few meters. 

Leptokarya is the ideal vacation spot for thousands of visitors, during the summer months, and a starting point for the most popular destinations of Pieria! 

Beaches 

The approximately 45 kilometers of coastline of Pieria hide pleasant surprises and fairytale landscapes. In the shadow of the high peaks of Olympus that are lost in the clouds, they are an ideal choice for those who love both the mountain and the sea.

Olympus 

The highest mountain in Greece and home of the twelve gods of antiquity, invites you to a divine mountaineering experience. surprises and fairytale landscapes. In the shadow of the high peaks of Olympus that are lost in the clouds, they are an ideal choice for those who love both the mountain and the sea.

Olympus has 52 peaks and deep gorges. The highest peak, Mytikas, meaning "nose", rises to 2,919 meters (9,577 ft). It is one of the highest peaks in Europe.

Castle of Platamon

At the southeastern foothills of Mount Olympus and at the borders of D.K. Platamonas, the Middle Byzantine Castle of Platamonas is built. A uniquely preserved Castle dating back to the Frankish era, with the imposing Tower inside, which was a strategic control point for the passage from Thessaly to Macedonia by land and sea!

The Castle of Platamonas is currently under the responsibility of the 9th Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities and with its consent, events of the Olympus Festival are held there.

Ancient Dion

At the northern foothills of Olympus, in an area that ensures absolute control of the narrow passage from Macedonia to Thessaly, Dion dominates. At a distance of only seven stadia from the shores of Thermaikos, Dion was the pre-eminent sacred city of the Macedonians and the sacred place of Zeus in this region. It reached great prosperity during the Hellenistic times, but also in the Roman years, as it was one of the earliest Roman colonies in the Macedonian area.
